About the Practice

Bradley’s Practice was started on 1st April 1959 at 76 Brunswick Road Buckley by - Dr. Harry Bradley.

Our practice operates as a partnership and our doctors are supported by a number of clinical staff, a reception team and an administration team.

There are a number of ways to access our practice which include phone, email, online eConsultation via our website and by calling in to speak with our reception team.

We operate an appointment system which allows you to be triaged by our Care Navigation Team and you will either be treated on the day or be given a routine appointment and we will advise you accordingly.

The practice participates in the training of doctors who wish to become general practitioners.  These doctors have extensive experience of hospital work before they come to us.

We are also involved in training medical students for the universities of Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff.  You can ask for the medical student not to be present during your consultation if you prefer – please tell reception.

The practice has a chaperone policy - if you need to have an examination that may make you feel uncomfortable you may ask for a member of staff (who has been trained to be a chaperone) to be present for the examination in addition to the doctor or nurse.  If you think you may need this service, please let reception know when you book in so we can ensure a member of staff is available.

Please note the surgery does not close for lunch, this allows patients access to the practice throughout the day.

Patients are expected to cancel unwanted appointments, allowing these appointments to be booked by someone else.

Our History

The Bradley's Practice was started on 1st April 1959 at 76, Brunswick Road, Buckley by Dr. Harry Bradley.

Dr. Bradley qualified from the University of Liverpool in 1955 and worked as a general medical practitioner in Buckley from 1959 until his retirement in January 1988.The practice relocated to its present site in September 1975 when the existing health centre opened.

On 1st April 1959 Harry's list was just 200 patients, but such was his popularity that within three months his list size had risen to 3,500 patients. From then until the appointment of Dr. Geoff Hoggins as his partner in 1981 there was a waiting list of patients wishing to register with the practice. Harry had been involved with St John Ambulance since 1957, and rose to the rank of Assistant Chief Commissioner for Wales.

He was honoured in 1982 when he was decorated 'Knight of the Order of St John'. Harry since his retirement, had been a regular visitor to the practice and was often seen chatting to his former patients in the waiting room. Harry was known as a General Practitioner who practised family medicine with integrity - aspiration which all the current partners share. Unfortunately Dr. Bradley passed away on the 5th July 2005.
